From my point of view, theatre is not promoting the notion of immorality but rather it was the Roman actors and actresses themselves who were caught in the tide decadent extravegence and misconduct. According to Encarte, the Roman actors and actresses lived licentiously and they frequently derided Christianity. Subsequently, the Christian attacked the Roman theatre which later led to the demise of Roman theatre.
However, theatre has great implications on the audience now and then. Theatre is essentially part of entertainment and academic enlightenment. In addition, the immediacy of theatre is a reflection of human being. Theatre mirrors the person, society and civilization and satisfy our quest for a good play.

I would like to comment on you view regarding Greek drama and Greek writers. I am totally agreed with you that many Greek playwrights such Aristotle and Sophocles has really influenced other playwrights. However, I think that the growth of drama during those times was not promoting immorality in the society. This is because, during the glory years of Greek playwright, most people especially Greek really appreciates and honored these great playwrights for their masterpiece. Therefore, there’s should be no immorality in the society happened during those time. In fact, until now most of us who read Greek’s playwrights masterpiece, we found it fun, exciting and meaningful. For example in “Antigone”, Sophocles actually tried to show us moral qualities inside the drama where arrogance and live in denial are something that negative and also immoral.
